I am currently researching a family that most recently was from Lancashire but I have so far traced back to Cornwall, Devon, Warwickshire and Yorkshire. It just goes to show how much our ancestors travelled in the 19th century and that you never know where your researches may lead.

Case Study – Band Family Tree

Charles Downs Band (1841 – 1896)

When I started to look at my great, great grandfather’s family tree I only knew his name and dates of birth and death. By using census data plus parish records I have taken it much further back. The tables below show 3 of the generations I have unearthed but the tree now goes back to the mid 1600s. We had thought the family were all long term Derbyshire but it transpired that in the 18th century the Band side were living over the county border in Cheshire.
